Acceptance

By creating a nickname and using EpiQuiz ("the app"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

The service

EpiQuiz lets you create quizzes (manually or with AI), play them with people you invite or online against other players or computer-controlled opponents, and optionally share quizzes publicly. The app is free to download and play, with optional paid features described below, and is intended for a general audience.

Acceptable use — zero tolerance

There is ZERO TOLERANCE for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. You agree NOT to create, upload, share, or transmit any content that is:

• Sexual, obscene, or pornographic
• Violent, graphic, or glorifying harm
• Hateful, discriminatory, or harassing toward any person or group
• Promoting self-harm, illegal drugs, weapons, extremism, or terrorism
• Spam, deceptive, or infringing on others' intellectual property

You are solely responsible for the quizzes, questions, answers, images, and nickname you provide.

Content moderation

AI-generated topics are screened on our servers before generation, and prohibited topics are blocked automatically.

Public quizzes can be reported by any user via the report button. Reported content and abusive users are reviewed and offending material is removed — and the responsible user may be blocked or banned — within 24 hours of a report.

We reserve the right to remove any content and to suspend or terminate any account that violates these terms, at our discretion and without notice.

Reporting and blocking

If you encounter content or a player that violates these terms, use the report button on the public quiz or on the player's profile. Reports are acted upon promptly, and you can block any player from their profile so they can no longer contact or challenge you.

Party games are private and joined by invite code only; the host can remove (kick) any player from the lobby before the game starts. Online modes (ranked duels, leagues, leaderboards, friends) match you with other players. When no player is available within a few seconds, a ranked duel is played against a computer-controlled opponent instead. These opponents have player profiles, can offer a rematch, and may also appear on leaderboards and in league previews. A duel against one counts toward your rating and rewards like any other duel. By using the app you acknowledge that your nickname, profile picture, level and results may be visible to other players in these modes.

Your content licence

You retain ownership of the quizzes and images you create. By setting a quiz to Public, you grant us a non-exclusive licence to host, display, and distribute that content within the app so other users can play it. You can change a quiz's visibility or delete it at any time from My Quizzes.

Account

You can play as a guest, identified by a nickname and an anonymous random ID. You may optionally create an account (email and password, Google, or Apple) so your progress can be recovered on another device. You are responsible for keeping your credentials safe and for everything done from your account; one account per person. You may permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Delete account.

Purchases and subscriptions

EpiQuiz offers optional paid content: the EpiQuiz Infinite subscription (monthly or yearly) and gem packs. Prices, currency and billing period are shown before you confirm any purchase.

• On iOS and Android, purchases are made through your Apple App Store or Google Play account and are governed by their terms; on the web they are processed by Stripe.
• EpiQuiz Infinite is a recurring subscription: it renews automatically at the end of each period, at the price shown when you subscribed, until you cancel. Cancel at any time from your App Store or Google Play subscription settings, or from the billing portal in the app (Energy → Manage subscription). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period, which stays paid for.
• Prices may change; any change to a subscription price is announced in advance and applies from the next renewal after you have been notified.
• Purchases are tied to your account and cannot be transferred.

Refunds and right of withdrawal

Purchases made through the App Store or Google Play are refunded by Apple or Google under their own policies — request them there. For purchases made on the web via Stripe, contact us at the address below.

Gems, subscription access and other digital content are delivered immediately after payment. If you live in the EU or the UK, by purchasing you expressly request immediate delivery and acknowledge that you lose your 14-day right of withdrawal once the content has been delivered. This does not affect your statutory rights, and nothing here excludes a refund where the law requires one.

A refund or chargeback revokes what it paid for: gems are removed from your balance and subscription benefits end.

Gems, energy and virtual items

Gems, energy, cosmetics and other in-app items are virtual. They have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for money, transferred, sold or traded, and exist only as a limited, revocable licence to use them within the app. Gems can be earned by playing or bought; both kinds are the same balance.

We may adjust earning rates, prices and the catalogue of items, and may correct balances that result from a bug, abuse or a refund. Virtual items are lost when the account that holds them is deleted.

Advertising

The free version of the app shows ads: an interstitial after some completed quizzes, and rewarded ads you can choose to watch in exchange for a bonus. Ads are served by Google (see the Privacy Policy). Subscribing to EpiQuiz Infinite removes all ads.

Donations

You can support the app's server costs with a voluntary donation of an amount you choose. Donating opens Buy Me a Coffee, a third-party platform: the payment is handled there under that platform's own terms and privacy policy, not by this app. A donation is not a purchase: it gives no goods, services or benefits in return, is not tax-deductible, and is non-refundable except where the law requires.

Because the donation happens outside the app, it is not linked to your account: it does not appear in your purchase history, and no donor list is shown in the app.

Disclaimer

The app is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that user-generated content is accurate. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the app.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
